Hindsight is so 2020. Come Back to the Future in 2021. RIHPHC invites you to our first-ever virtual historic preservation conference. Join us for:
- Thursday’s keynote address: “The Accidental Archivist” by George Smart, Modern architecture advocate and creator of the USModernist Radio podcast
- Friday’s keynote address: “Black Landscapes Matter” by Kofi Boone, FASLA, Professor of Landscape Architecture at North Carolina State University
- Sessions exploring Ira Rakatansky’s Modernist architecture, Indigenizing design, monuments, postwar suburbs, Black landscapes, preservation futurism, monuments, digital media, the Gaspee’s 250th, and more
- Virtual tours of Clouds Hill Museum, geology and architecture of the Pawtuxet River Valley, and CCRI’s Knight Campus—the Brutalist-style megastructure. Check back for announcements of new tours and bonus content.
- Historic District Commission workshops on Wednesday
- Networking and conversation
The conference brings together a growing community of professionals, volunteers, and students to preserve Rhode Island’s historic places.
Registration fee: $25
Student discounts available.
Educational credits for AIA and AICP members are being finalized. Sessions will be indicated once approved.
